Creation of the master slide

The following presentation will consist of 10 slides. These include a title and conclusion slide, a quote slide, and several content slides.
In total, we will create 5 master slides for this presentation, including a slide that includes a title and conclusion slide, a quote slide, and 3 content slides.
To do this, we use two images from the website Pixabay. The images are already stored in the cloud for you.

Procedure

1 | Title & Conclusion Slide

Open LibreOffice Impress and don’t select any of the templates. Open the Master Slide pane. Now insert image Impress_1 and adjust it to the size of the slide so that it covers the entire area. In the picture on the left, you can check if it is neatly arranged.
Now put it in the background. Select a rectangle and fill it with white and a dark border (e.g. Dark Grey 1) and with a 2.3 pt thick border. Now go back to Fill and set the transparency to (solid) 30%.

Now you can drag the title template onto the surface, adjust the size and put it in the foreground. You can drag the text area under the transparent area and reduce it.

2 | Quote Slide

Video

Insert a new master slide. Go back to the second image from the cloud: Image Impress_2.
Insert it and pull it to size so that it fills the entire film. Put the image in the background.
Now select a hexagon and position it in the left half of the image. For the fill, choose black and no border.

After that, choose a rectangle with white fill and 30% transparency, or copy it from the previous slide and remove the border. Adjust the sizes and place the hexagon in front of the rectangle.
Put the text areas in the foreground if necessary.

3 | Content Slide 1

Copy the background image of the first master slide. Click on the heading template and drag it slightly to the right. Left-align the text.
Now select the line function. Draw a line horizontally in front of the title, color it black, and set it to a thickness of 2.3, or 3 pt.

4 | Content Slides 2 & 3

Insert two more blank master slides. Paste the image Impress_1 again. Drag it to the right edge and enlarge it as shown below on the left. Create or copy a transparent rectangle without a border and position it on the left edge of the image. Select “linear” for the transparency function and 270 degrees for “angle”.
Now drag the rectangle over the entire illustration.
Select the rectangle and the image and put both in the background

Copy the image Impress_1 from the slide you just created and paste it onto a new master slide. Click on it and move it to the left with the arrow keys (!) until the globe has disappeared from the small overview image in the bar on the left. Use the arrow keys to prevent the image from moving up or down. Later, we’ll add a sliding animation here.
Paste or copy a transparent rectangle again. Set the transparency to linear, 90 degrees. Position the rectangle at the right end of the image and drag it to the left.

Put the rectangle and image in the background. Now click through all the slides and the title text boxes in order and select “Avenir Next LT Pro Bold” as the font text.

Author’s note:

In this course, everything looks clearly structured. However, when I create presentations, it’s usually not so straightforward and I go through a lot of design possibilities before I find a satisfactory design. In addition, I often create additional master slides in the process if necessary.
So, if you’re starting your first standalone presentation, take a little more time to try out different designs and don’t worry if the structure isn’t quite clear at the beginning.
