Icons and menus
In the ABIOLA online Academy, some of the students study with an ABIOLA Raspberry Pi under Linux and many others with another operating system such as Windows or MacOS. LibreOffice supports all operating systems. The interface of LibreOffice is different.
On the official website of LibreOffice, a free download with the modern interface is offered. For Linux/Debian, a predecessor variant with different symbols is offered. Here’s the visual difference:

Impress with the interface on Raspberry Pi, with operating system Linux/Debian
The two surfaces can’t be exactly compared to each other, because the PC in the screenshot above was larger than the 18.5″ monitor from the Raspberry Pi PC (below).
Let’s take a closer look at the symbols.
Symbols – Windows
Symbols – Linux/Debian
The symbols are similar but not always easy to spot.
To our delight, we found that the menu items of both versions are almost the same . Not only in the first level, but also in the levels below. These show only minor differences.
That’s why we decided to design the course with the official interface of LibreOffice . Also for the reason that today schools in Africa are also studying the courses of the ABIOLA online Academy with Windows or MacOS PCs.
However, we will also test whether the course can also be studied with the Debian variant.
If a symbol is too different in both variants, then we write a gray block to it with access via the menu. Example:
Format | Table | Insert Row
